broken

I don't have the time or energy to blog everything that has happened in the last few months. I'll get around to it eventually I promise. But my Uncle, who I love like a father, but isn't normally what one would call effusive sent me a beautiful card the other day on a day I really needed it, and he tucked the lyrics to this song in side and it was so perfect I broke down and cried. It's everything I need to say right now. Thanks to my good friends for understanding why I can't really be my normally verbose and effusive self right now either. One tiny step at a time I'm getting unbroken.

Wake up to a sunny day, not a cloud up in the sky
Then it starts to rain, my defenses hit the ground
And they shatter all around, so open and exposed
I found strength in the struggle
Face to face with my trouble

When you're broken in a million little pieces
And you're trying but you can't hold on anymore
Every tear falls down for a reason
Don't you stop believing in yourself
When you're broken

Little girl don't be so blue
I know what you're going through
Don't let it beat you up
Heaven knows that getting scars
Only makes you who you are
Only makes you who you are
No matter how much your heart is aching
There is beauty in the breaking
Yeah

When you're broken in a million little pieces
And you're trying but you can't hold on anymore
Every tear falls down for a reason
Don't you stop believing in yourself
When you're broken

Better days are gonna find you once again
Every piece will find its place

When you're broken, when you're broken

When you're broken in a million little pieces
And you're trying but you can't hold on anymore
Every tear falls down for a reason
Don't you stop believing in yourself
When you're broken
Oh, when you're broken
When you're broken
When you're broken

Back and off again....

Well.. I've disappeared for a bit again, haven't I?

Life has not been good to me the last several months, nor have I been good to myself, or pretty much anyone else around me.

Why is it that I always seem to make a bigger and bigger mess of everything? This time I've managed to pretty much lose everything. And I had a choice to make. Give up, or try and figure out a way to pick up what pieces remain and find a way to live.

So I very narrowly chose the later. And I'm off soon for a big adventure. But for now I'm just thinking I'll take another nap.

where do I keep finding them?

Don't forget about Burma

Just because there aren't pictures of monks being shot in the streets on TV anymore. There are still people suffering under a brutal military regime, as this article  from the NY Times about a traditional Burmese comedy troupe shows. One of their members was taken by military police who barged into their home in the middle of the night.

As long as the US has decided that we are to be global defenders of freedom and fighters for democracy in foreign lands - perhaps it's not such a stretch to believe that we should be doing more to ensure the freedom of the people of Burma. (or Tibet, or dozens of other places where people actually beg for our help while we do virtually nothing) Think for a moment about that.

Also, if you are truly interested in reading more about the situation in Burma, there is an LJ community called for_burma  that posts stories and links to stories pretty much every day. Some of them are very insightful.

Reality

"The only Enlightenment that really matters is right here and right now. You have it right in the palm of your hand. It shines from your eyes and illuminates everything you see. That's the only Enlightenment there is."

Carry You...

The Fire Theft is one of the best one off bands ever. Ok - it's a little emo. But good emo - not Hot Topic weird bangs in my sad face cause my mommy doesn't love me enough to give me my own credit card so I have to buy this black hair dye with my allowance money emo.  Anyway. Good stuff.

Carry you in my breath

I’m going nowhere waiting for the future to begin

Every single step is just another reason to forget who i’ve become ...

... Just moving on...
